We drove to Mont Saint Michelle and what a beautiful day to do it in. It was one of the few sunny days we had on the whole trip. The abbey is surrounded by water but when the tide goes out you can drive right up to it. We did not go in as there is a long walk up the hill to the actual abbey. That night we came back to Bayeux and the place we ate at had snails as a specialty. Not all of us had them, however. The next day was rain as usual and we drove to Saint Mere Eglise where the paratroopers landed. One of the men was caught at the top of the church and had to endure the bells all night. He was deaf for awhile but recovered. The windows were all destroyed and when they redid them they inserted pictures of paratroopers in them. Lovely inside the church. Grandpa Kevin is acting as a very knowledgeble tour guide.

love the picture! and in case anyone was wondering....the snails were DELICIOUS! :-) Love, Sarie
Great post Fred! Just curious, how were the snails served? Cooked, fried, raw?
Snails look gross, but rest of trip looks fun. Great pictures!
Snails are cooked of course and then you dig them out, ugh.
